I never buy knitting books, much as I love them, because I just get them from the library and it's cheaper that way. But this book is a must-have. Tons of projects in it that I make over and over again that are quick and only take one skein. Love the One Skein Wonder books.
I will be reluctant to buy anything from this publisher again. If you buy the book, go to [.].
Imagine my surprise when I found SEVEN pages of corrections for this book. The scarf pattern has a mistake in 7 rows of the 16 row repeat.
I was having an unusually hard time with the Lace Spiral Scarf pattern and finally went to the publishers website. It took a good hour to tape all the corrections into the book.
The cute baby Wave Jumper has 7 errors. Twenty Six of the 101 patterns are defective.
and print out the corrections as there is no telling how long they will be available online. The patterns are cute but there are just too many errors.
I'm still deciding wheter I like or hate this book to death. There are a lot of cool patterns, but the yarns are very expensive and switch out yarns for a diffrent yarn can mean buying more than one skein. What got me to hate this book slightly was the green handwarmers(the picture on the back of book) the pattern in not correct. I had to do the pattern over three times to realize it was incorrect.By all means buy this book, if you only like one or two items(especially the green handwarmers). skip this book and look elsewhere.
This is a fantastic book. Even when using a dark blue or green most of the patterns have a feminine "feel". For me the format and difficulty is perfect.
It's only one skein so I can go all out and use angora or any other fine yarn. I've already knitted several items and was delighted with everyone of them so far. I like it because I can use any yarn I want for any project.
I have an easy project on hand but still have enough of a challenge by learning a new technique or shortcut. Each project is fast and relatively easy to complete. With just one skein the projects are also very portable.another thing to love when you want to knit ALL the time.
I do wish there were more hats for boys, since I have a son and two nephews. Still a good buy and probably close to being my favorite pattern book.
Now I don't feel so guilty about buying all of those single skeins of yarn that I just had to have, without really knowing what I would make with them. I've been knitting for over 40 years now, and there are only so many sweaters one can do without getting bored. This book, with all of its one-skein projects is very inspiring, and I love that they are fast projects that I can do while watching TV in the evening, that I can stash away for gifts when I need them. I've bought all three of her one-skein books and plan to make many items from each. Thank you, Judith.
